Windsurf is a standalone, AI-native code editor (agentic IDE) developed by Codeium and launched on November 13, 2024. Its core feature is Cascade, an agentic AI system for autonomous multi-file editing, terminal execution, and context-aware code generation. The editor is built on a VS Code fork; plugins for JetBrains, VS Code, and other IDEs are also available. In June 2026, Windsurf was rebranded to "Devin Desktop" under new owner Cognition AI.
