GPTZero is a cloud-based AI detection tool that uses a deep-learning model (currently Model 3.7b / 3.15b) to determine whether text was generated by large language models such as ChatGPT, GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, or Llama. Detection operates at sentence, paragraph, and document level; a dedicated API endpoint enables integration into third-party systems. Founded on January 3, 2023 by Edward Tian and Alex Cui, GPTZero was acquired by Superhuman (formerly Grammarly) in June 2026 but continues to operate as a standalone product. With more than 10 million users and 100+ institutional partners across education, publishing, HR, and legal sectors, it is one of the most widely used AI detectors in the English-speaking education market.
