The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is a space telescope for infrared astronomy developed by NASA in collaboration with ESA and CSA. It launched on December 25, 2021, and orbits the Sun near the Lagrange point L2, approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. The telescope features a 6.5-meter segmented primary mirror and is used to study early galaxies, star formation, and exoplanets.
