Claude Cowork is an agentic AI tool by Anthropic that extends the "Harness" architecture of Claude Code to general knowledge work. It allows Claude to independently execute multi-step tasks across files, calendars, emails, and connected tools, rather than just providing responses. Cowork launched as a Research Preview in January 2026, reached general availability in April 2026, and was reintegrated into standard Claude Chat in September 2026 (discontinued as a standalone tab). Usage is embedded in all paid Claude subscriptions (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) with no separate pricing.
